KHAIRUNISA: Transforming Communities, One Woman at a time
Khairunisa is a student-led NGO, an initiative started by two young girls, which believes in cultivating
an environment that fosters growth, providing education, skills and resources that enable women to
thrive in any field they choose. We strive to create a platform where every woman’s voice is heard,
where barriers are shattered and opportunities are increased, eliminating any stigma attached to
their personal hygiene. This journey involves our commitment to encouraging a society where
empowerment knows no bounds in which we cover 3 aspects: Personal Health and Hygiene,
Domestic Violence and Women Employment.
From visiting the rural areas of Jhang and distributing sanitary hygiene bags to holding interactive
activities and lectures on women’s safety and their employment in orphanages, Khairunisa aims to
empower every woman out there. Moreover, due to the recent heatwave in Pakistan, Team
Khairunisa paid a visit to the Jhuggis (Kachi Abadis) where we provided the underprivileged families
with Solar Powered Fans to make this an easier time for them. Team Khairunisa has also been doing
continuous visits to the Humaira Riaz School where we carried out an Empathy Project to cultivate a
supportive environment.
The Entrepreneurial Project:
At Humaira Riaz School, we did another project regarding loans and microfinance. Our Employment
Heads gave a short seminar to the kids, teaching them about the importance of being financially
independent and how they can achieve that. Our team showed them videos of women who started
their own businesses through the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance. Real life examples helped
motivate the children and made them passionate about starting their own businesses in the future.
Furthermore, we carried out a very interactive Business Fair where the children were requested to
pitch their products assigned to them such as Shezan, Nestle etc to the judges and request loans
from them. Sequentially, the kids were asked to market their brand which was followed by a detailed
question and answer session. This project showed the creativity of the children as they designed
their stalls and being paired in groups helped shape their teamwork skills.
We believe in advocating women’s rights, providing education and vocational training, promoting
health and well-being, preventing violence against women, and supporting economic independence.
Khairunisa also focuses on increasing women’s participation in leadership roles, providing legal
support, and helping vulnerable groups. Overall, our goal is to uplift women and ensure equal
opportunities in all aspects of life.
